2024 Adelaide International WTA Draw With Rybakina, Pegula, Badosa & More

2024 Adelaide International WTA Draw With Rybakina, Pegula, Badosa & More

The 2024 Adelaide International, is the last WTA 500 tournament before the first major of the season, and it will run from January 8th to 13th, as we already know the draw.

Before the first Grand Slam of the season – the Australian Open, women are treated to two WTA 500 tournaments, which give them a chance to accumulate a total of 1000 points, which is almost as much as the runner-up finish is worth in Melbourne.

The runner-up finish is something that Elena Rybakina achieved at the Australian Open in 2023, and that’s also maybe one of the reasons, why she’s one of the few players that elected to take part in both of these WTA 500 tournaments, to make up for points that she may loss in the Melbourne Park.

She reached the final in Brisbane, and in Adelaide, she will play as the top seed. The first two seeds have a first-round bye, so the Kazakhstani player will await the winner of the match between a qualifier and Jasmine Paolini in the second round.

On the other side of the draw, the second-seeded Jessica Pegula will want to make it all the way to the final clash with Rybakina, but after the United Cup disappointment, the American is facing probably the most stacked part of the draw.

With a bye in the first round, Pegula will take on either the former world no. 2, Paula Badosa, or a qualifier in the second round. Should she make it to the quarterfinals, her opponent can be the former world no. 1, Karolina Pliskova, the fifth-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia, or another wild card, Ajla Tomljanovic.

Another stacked part of the draw will see another former world no. 1, Angelique Kerber, who recorded her first win as a mother at the United Cup, take on Daria Kasatkina, with the winner set to meet the fourth-seeded Barbora Krejcikova or a qualifier.

The reigning Wimbledon champion, Marketa Vondrousova, will also play in Adelaide, and she too, like her compatriot Krejcikova, is set to take on a qualifier in the first round of the tournament. If she wins the match, she will meet the winner of an all-Ukrainian clash between Anhelina Kalinina and Marta Kostyuk.

The draw for the 2024 Adelaide International is really full of many great matchups, so be sure not to miss the full draw below.
