The draw for the 2024 Bogota Open, running from April 1st to 7th, was released and it features some exciting matchups.
With the players switching from the hard courts to red clay, the Bogota Open, also called the Copa Colsanitas Zurich for sponsorship reasons, doesn’t have the best spot in the calendar.
It’s one of the first two tournaments after the Sunshine Double, starting a couple of days after the conclusion of the Miami Open. With the other tournament being the popular Charleston Open in the United States, it’s sometimes hard for the WTA 250 event in Bogota to attract the best of the best.
Even without any players from the world’s Top 35, it doesn’t take away from the excitement, as fans in Colombia always come in large numbers to support players, and some interesting matches will be on offer in 2024.
Marie Bouzkova is the top seed at the tournament, and the Czech player will start her campaign against Rebecca Marino from Canada, with the winner taking on either Tamara Zidansek from Slovenia or Hailey Baptiste from the United States.
On the other side of the draw is the second-seeded Tatjana Maria, who will start her tournament against Anna Bondar, with the winner facing the winner of the match between Emiliana Arango and Julie Riera.
The third-seeded Sara Sorribes Tormo will also play at the tournament, and her first-round match will be quite challenging, as she’ll take on young Maria Timofeeva, who is one of the players rising through the ranks.
On the other hand, the seventh-seeded Larua Siegemund will start against one of the qualifiers, and the same applies to the fourth-seeded Cristina Bucsa and the sixth-seeded Maria Camila Osorio. The full draw for the 2024 Bogota Open can be seen below.
