2024 Chile Open Santiago ATP Draw With Jarry, Baez, Fils & More

2024 Chile Open Santiago ATP Draw With Jarry, Baez, Fils & More

The 2024 Chile Open will be the final tournament of this year’s Golden Swing, and the draw for the event was recently released.

It is the last opportunity for those competing to lift tour-level hardware in South America. Nicolas Jarry will attempt to become the first player since 2009 to defend the Chile Open. Incidentally, the last man to do it was also a Chilean – Fernando Gonzalez.

The man from Santiago is playing in his home city, so he will be buoyed to put together another title-winning week. Jarry has a bye in the first round in what is a relatively small field. In fact, all the top four seeds don’t start their campaign until the second round.

The top seed will, therefore, await the winner of the match between Federico Coria and a qualifier. Brazilian youngster Joao Fonseca made waves at his home tournament in Rio and has earned a wild card into the draw in Santiago.

The 17-year-old will play Thiago Agustin Tirante. If Fonseca can repeat his heroics from last week, he could run into defending champion Jarry in the quarterfinal. Fourth seed Alejandro Tabilo has already bagged an ATP title this season (Auckland).

The tall Chilean will face a fellow countryman in the second round. He awaits the winner of the match between Cristian Garin and Tomas Barrios Vera. Italian wild card and recently crowned Cordoba champion Luciano Darderi will take on Daniel Elahi Galan.

The winner of that match will most likely draw Yannick Hanfmann in the second round, provided the German scales past a qualifier. In the bottom half, both Sebastian Baez and Arthur Fils feature.

Baez will play one of Juan Pablo Varillas or Mariano Navone. Third seed Fils, who is playing the Golden Swing for the first time, will likely face Thiago Seyboth Wild.

That same half has an interesting first-round battle between Argentina Open champion Facundo Diaz Acosta and Pedro Cachin. You can check the full draw of the 2024 Chile Open below.
