The United States Men’s National Team close out the September international window tonight when they take on New Zealand at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. The USMNT are coming off a 2-1 loss to Canada, just their second home loss ever to their northern neighbors.
The USMNT didn’t play with the “right mentality,” according to interim coach Mikey Varas, and it showed in a match where Canada controlled the tempo for most of the 90 minutes. They hope to regroup and turn it around to get a win against a Kiwi side that is coming off a 3-0 loss to Mexico over the weekend and will want to boost the pressure on offense. The United States is in a gut check period and will have to block out the outside distractions and get back to playing solid soccer.
