Andy Murray might be playing his final season in 2024, according to fellow Brit Tin Henman, who didn’t like his attitude late in 2023.
What Andy Murray has been able to do since his surgery has been utterly spectacular. It’s inspiring and jaw-dropping, and it’s pretty hard to describe how much it meant to the sport.
You could never deny Murray’s passion for the sport, but this just cemented it. In any case, we don’t know how long it will last. It could end tomorrow as Murray himself admitted that he’ll retire when he can’t compete anymore.
Former ATP player Tim Henman, who spoke to Eurosport, could see it happening after this year for various reasons.
I think it might be. I don’t know. He’s the only one that really knows that. But look, he’s still so motivated. I’ve seen him practising at the National Tennis Centre at Roehampton. He’s out there putting in the hours on the court, in the gym, and I just hope he can get some rewards for all that time and effort.
No one can deny that Murray is working really hard on his game and looks motivated but he also looked quite a bit stressed during this year. There was a lot of frustration and anger about the inability to play the way he wanted all the time, and over time, that built up. Henman noticed it, too.
At the end of last year, it didn’t look like he was enjoying himself on the court. His attitude wasn’t good. At this stage of his career, you want him to be out there not only having some good results, but enjoying himself. He’s not going to be playing professional tennis forever.
I think for me, the wish list for Andy Murray is for him to play well and have some good wins and enjoy himself. So, yeah, fingers crossed.
