2024 Rio Open ATP Prize Money & Points Overview

2024 Rio Open ATP Prize Money & Points Overview

The Rio Open is the biggest clay court tournament of the Golden Swing, and this year, those competing in it will fight for grand prize money.

The tournament will commit a record prize money for the event amounting to $2,100,230, which is 4.3% higher than last year’s purse. This marginal increase will stream down to every main draw round, and even those who don’t reach the deep end of the draw stand to earn a decent payoff.

This ATP 500 event will run from February 19th to 25th, with established clay court players leading the line. The biggest coup for the tournament is the acquisition of World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz. The former champion hasn’t forgotten the hand that fed him.

It was in Rio when the Spanish sensation made his ATP debut in 2020 and will be making his fourth visit to Brazil. Some of his immediate challengers include Nicolas Jarry (who took a set from him last year), Francisco Cerundolo, and Cameron Norrie (who defeated Alcaraz in last year’s final).

Those will be the top four seeds, but ardent tennis fans are aware of the talent of Sebastian Baez and Tomas Martin Etcheverry on clay. Former French Open champion Stan Wawrinka is making his debut at this tournament.

The prize money breakdown was recently revealed. The winner of the 2024 Rio Open will earn $392,775 and receive 500 points. This year’s paycheck is at least 4% higher than 12 months ago when Norrie won the title.

The vanquished finalist will also receive a lucrative payday amounting to $211,330 and 300 points. Semifinalists also make six figures worth $112,625 and 180 points.

Players who fail to scale the quarterfinal hurdle will take home $57,540 and 90 points. Prize money will be handed out from the first round. Those who stumble in their opening match make $16,380 but won’t receive any ranking points.

Winning a main draw match would almost double that prize money. These players will be guaranteed to pocket $30,715 and will also receive 45 points. Ensure to check the complete breakdown below.
