2024 San Diego Open WTA Draw With Pegula, Wozniacki, Haddad Maia & More

2024 San Diego Open WTA Draw With Pegula, Wozniacki, Haddad Maia & More

The San Diego Open is one of many tournaments held in the United States, and the draw was revealed for the WTA 500 tournament.

In February and March, fans in the United States are treated to many events, as everything builds up towards the Sunshine Double – the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open, which are played in March.

As part of a build up to those tournaments, players have a chance to compete at the San Diego Open, which runs from February 26th to March 3rd and features many interesting players in the draw.

One of them is the top seed, Jessica Pegula, who is returning to tennis after a minor hiatus. The American was forced to withdraw from the Middle Eastern stretch, but she’ll be back in action in San Diego.

As the top seed, she has a first-round bye, and in the second round, the world no. 5 will await the winner of the match between a qualifier and Varvara Gracheva from France.

On the other side of the draw is the second-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia, who too, has a first-round bye. The Brazilian will be facing a much more difficult second-round opponent, though, as she’s set to take on either British no. 1, Katie Boulter, or Lesia Tsurenko.

Caroline Wozniacki will also compete in San Diego, after she received a wild card for the tournament. In the first round of the tournament, the Danish player will take on Anna Blinkova from Russia.

One of the players, who could be considered one of the dark horses despite being the third seed is Emma Navarro. The young American has been flying under the radar, and in San Diego, she can prove her qualities, starting against a qualifier or Katerina Siniakova in the second round.

One of the most interesting first-round matches will see former US Open finalist, Leylah Fernandez, and former Wimbledon semifinalist, Tatjana Maria clash for a second-round spot. To see the full draw for the 2024 San Diego Open, be sure to check it out below.
