2024 Transylvania Open Cluj WTA Entry List

The Transylvania Open returned to the WTA calendar in 2024, and the tournament managed to attract a competitive player’s field.

Initially, it seemed that the tournament held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, would not be held in 2024, but the Transylvania Open eventually appeared on the calendar, and from February 5th to 11th, players will get a chance to fight for the trophy.

Anett Kontaveit won the first-ever Transylvania Open held in 2021, but the Estonian won’t play in 2024 as she had to retire from the sport. However, the 2022 champion, Anna Blinkova, will return to Cluj, while last year’s champion, Tamara Korpatsch, is missing from the initial entry list.

That is led by the former world no. 1, and the first player to stop the four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka on her comeback, Karolina Pliskova. The Czech player fell in the rankings in recent years, and she will try to improve it by attempting to win the WTA 250 tournament as the top seed.

Still, the field of players that will compete at the 2024 Transylvania Open will be competitive. Former Wimbledon semifinalist, Tatjana Maria, or former Roland Garros finalist, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova are both set to compete at the tournament.

So are the former Australian Open quarterfinalist, Martina Trevisan, as well as the former Roland Garros semifinalist, Nadia Podoroska. On top of that, former US Open semifinalist, Anastasija Sevastova is returning to the sport, and she will compete in Cluj.

The entry list also includes names such as Elisabetta Cocciaretto, Arantxa Rus, Clara Burel, Greet Minnen, and Ana Bogdan, and the fight for the title should be spectacular, despite no Top 30 players featuring on the initial entry list.
