2025 Barcelona Open ATP Entry List Features Alcaraz, Ruud, Tsitsipas, and More

2025 Barcelona Open ATP Entry List Features Alcaraz, Ruud, Tsitsipas, and More

The 2025 Barcelona Open will run from April 14th to April 20th, and the ATP 500 event has a superb entry list.

Like most clay court tournaments during his career, Rafael Nadal dominated the Barcelona Open for many years. The tennis legend secured the title in front of his home fans 12 times, most recently in 2021.

Last year’s iteration of the event was won by Casper Ruud, who defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final to secure a maiden title at ATP 500 level. The Norwegian is on the entry list for the 2025 edition.

Although Ruud is a very accomplished hard-court player, as shown by his reaching the 2022 US Open final, clay remains the two-time French Open runner-up’s best surface, and it is an important time of the season for him.

Ruud’s abilities on the dirt make it somewhat surprising that he has not won a Masters 1000 event on the surface and that it took him several years to triumph at the ATP 500 level. He will try to go further this season.

Tsitsipas was the runner-up at the last two iterations of the Barcelona Open. The three-time Monte Carlo Masters champion has a chance to go a step further after signing up for this year’s entry list.

The Greek No. 1 had struggled for months after reaching the 2024 final in Barcelona but regained form by winning the 2025 Dubai Championships title a few weeks ago, overcoming Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final.

Although fans will enjoy watching Ruud and Auger-Aliassime, Carlos Alcaraz will undoubtedly be the biggest draw at the Barcelona Open if he is fit to play. The 21-year-old could not play last year because of an injury.

Alcaraz won the 2022 and 2023 Barcelona Opens. Although he is still in the early stages of his career, the four-time Grand Slam champion feels like the only active player who could equal or better Nadal’s record at the tournament.

Whether Alcaraz attains strong results during the clay court season could determine whether he overtakes Jannik Sinner at No. 1 before the Italian returns to action after the end of his suspension that lasts until May 4th.

Holger Rune will hope to still be in good form when he competes at the Barcelona Open. The Dane had a great run to the final of the 2025 Indian Wells Open but lost heavily to Jack Draper at that stage.

Rune is a two-time French Open champion and can play at a high level on clay when he is at his best. This is also shown by his reaching the finals at the 2023 Monte Carlo Masters and the 2023 Italian Open.

Andrey Rublev is another notable name on the entry list. He won the 2025 Qatar Open last month, which felt like a critical moment for him after he had faced some challenges in previous months.

Frances Tiafoe, Alex de Minaur, Lorenzo Musetti, Arthur Fils, and Sebastian Korda are among the other players on the 2025 Barcelona Open entry list.
