2025 US Open Men’s Entry List: Sinner, Alcaraz, Djokovic, and More Notable Contenders

2025 US Open Men's Entry List: Sinner, Alcaraz, Djokovic, and More Notable Contenders

The anticipation is already building for the 2025 US Open, set to take place from August 24 to September 7, marking the concluding Grand Slam of the tennis calendar. The entry list for the men’s draw has been disclosed, featuring the sport’s most competitive players.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, both prominent figures in the 2024 season where they split the Grand Slam titles, have continued to lead the charge this year. Sinner successfully defended his title at the Australian Open, defeating Alexander Zverev. However, in a gripping final at the 2025 French Open, he faced Alcaraz, leading with triple match points before Alcaraz executed a remarkable comeback to win in a decisive tiebreak.

Sinner rebounded impressively at Wimbledon, reversing his setback from Roland Garros as he triumphed over Alcaraz in the final, coming back after dropping the first set. This victory solidified his position as the player to beat at the upcoming US Open. In 2024, Sinner claimed his first title at Flushing Meadows with a commanding straight-sets win over American favorite Taylor Fritz.

This achievement was particularly significant given the personal turmoil Sinner faced when a doping case led to a three-month suspension before the tournament commenced. Overcoming that mental hurdle proved essential to his success.

On the other hand, Alcaraz experienced an unexpected upset during the previous year’s US Open, exiting the tournament in the second round to Botic van de Zandschulp. This defeat was compounded by his recent loss to Novak Djokovic in the Olympic Gold Medal match, which may have contributed to his struggles in that match. As Alcaraz returns to New York, he will aim to shake off the mental fallout from these past challenges.

Novak Djokovic’s early exit at last year’s event, falling to Alexei Popyrin in the third round, was another shocking result. His high-profile loss may stem from an emotional letdown following the peak of his success. Djokovic last clinched a major title at the 2023 US Open, and with Sinner and Alcaraz claiming the last seven Grand Slam titles, the former world No. 1 may face diminished expectations this time around. Nevertheless, his experience means he can never be ruled out.

Nick Kyrgios is also on the entry list, entering with a protected ranking after a lengthy injury absence. The Australian initially returned to the sport at the beginning of 2025 but missed the grass season due to another physical setback. He is scheduled to make his comeback at the 2025 Citi Open.

Among the American competitors eager to make an impact are Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe. Shelton reached the semifinals of the 2023 US Open, while Tiafoe narrowly lost to Fritz in a captivating five-set encounter last year.

Alexander Zverev, the 2020 US Open runner-up, will be pursuing his first Grand Slam title amidst speculation of potential collaboration with Rafael Nadal and his uncle, Toni Nadal, as he seeks to elevate his game.

The 2025 US Open entry list is notable for its strong roster, including players like 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev, rising stars Jack Draper and Holger Rune, alongside established talents such as Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud.

As the tournament nears, tennis fans worldwide are buzzing with excitement over who will capture the final Grand Slam title of the season. The stakes are high, and the competition promises to be fierce at the iconic hard courts of Flushing Meadows.
