NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that the Philadelphia 76ers have made a significant move by converting two-way guard/forward Ricky Council IV to a new four-year NBA contract worth $7.4 million.

Council, who has showcased his talents in 30 games, averaging 5.7 points in 9.3 minutes, has impressed both the coaching staff and management, earning praise from head coach Nick Nurse for his dedication and performance.

“First of all, I think that it’s a heck of an accomplishment for him. I would have said to you, yes were we excited on draft night when we got him to agree to come play for us. I thought his Summer League was so-so. But since then he’s really done a great job. He’s absolutely earned this spot and everything he’s done,” Nurse said.

After entering the NBA scene undrafted in the 2023 draft, Council initially signed a two-way contract with the 76ers in July 2023, demonstrating his potential and commitment to the team’s goals.

Despite facing initial challenges, including a brief waiver on October 20, Council’s resilience led to his re-signing on October 25, solidifying his position within the organization and setting the stage for his current multi-year deal.
