New Golf League to Debut in January 2025 after Arena Setbacks
A new vision for golf emerged in August of 2022 as golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy teamed up with TMRW Sports to create Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL). This interactive league combines traditional golf with advanced technology in an indoor arena. Originally set to launch in January of this year, the league was delayed due to arena damages caused by a windstorm and power outage in November. However, the much-anticipated first match of the league is set to begin on Jan. 7, 2025.
Excitement is building as the Palm Beach State College (PBSC) Board of Trustees is considering a proposal to construct a new golf arena for the TGL on the school’s campus in Palm Beach Gardens. The proposal suggests using prefabricated metal instead of an air-inflated dome for the arena. However, the board has requested that TMRW Sports pay hundreds of thousands of dollars per year for the construction.
Construction work is already underway for the TGL’s SoFi Center in Florida. The league, which was supposed to begin play this year in an inflatable dome on a 3-acre site along PGA Boulevard, faced setbacks when the dome was destroyed by severe weather conditions. Despite this setback, approval has been granted for the construction of a permanent arena at PBSC, and the league is gearing up for its first three matches on the first three Tuesdays of January 2025.
In an exclusive interview with USA Today Network, Tiger Woods expressed his excitement for the upcoming launch of the TGL. The league, which has faced challenges like the collapse of its original building roof, is moving “full steam ahead.” Woods, along with his team Jupiter Links GC, is eager to kick off the league’s inaugural season next year.
Max Homa, one of the rising stars of the PGA Tour, shared his excitement for playing alongside Tiger Woods in the TGL. He emphasized that the league will provide a unique and fun experience for both players and fans alike.
As the TGL prepares for its launch in Palm Beach Gardens, the rosters for all six teams have been finalized. With players like Hideki Matsuyama joining Boston Common Golf, the league is shaping up to be a thrilling and competitive event. The construction of the SoFi Center, where the league will take place, is well underway on the PBSC campus in Palm Beach Gardens. The center, led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, promises to be a state-of-the-art facility for the interactive golf league.
