Aaron Judge’s succinct response to making MLB history

Aaron Judge Has 2-Word Reaction To Making MLB History

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 22: Aaron Judge #99 of the New York Yankees rounds the bases after hitting a two-run home run during the first inning against the Seattle Mariners at Yankee Stadium on May 22, 2024 in the Bronx borough of New York City.

Aaron Judge didn’t have a great start to the season, as he hit just .220 with six home runs in April, but he has been the hottest hitter in baseball since the calendar turned to May.

After homering in his fourth consecutive game in last night’s 4-1 win at the San Diego Padres, Judge was informed that he made MLB history in his postgame presser, and his reaction wasn’t very exuberant.

YES Network posted a clip on X of Judge’s postgame interview, and when told he was the first player to have 12 doubles and 11 home runs over the course of 20 games, Judge replied simply, “It’s May.”

It’s a blunt answer, but it’s also the right one, as this accomplishment puts into context how white-hot Judge has been, but it doesn’t mean anything in the long run as Judge and the Yankees have much bigger goals this season than setting random records in May.

Judge also has 20 walks and has scored 25 runs in May for a 1.489 OPS and is leading the charge alongside Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton to recreate the Bronx Bombers of old.

Judge is now tied for the league lead in home runs with 17 and if he continues to hit at his current pace, he has a chance of tying or surpassing his American League record of 62 that he hit a few years ago.

The Yankees’ pitching staff has been spectacular so far and leads the league in ERA, but this offense is starting to look devastating with Judge and Soto at the center of it.

It’s exactly what fans were hoping for when trading for Soto.
