Baptiste showcased remarkable mental resilience after a disheartening second set where she struggled to find her rhythm. The first set was tightly contested, culminating in a tiebreak where Baptiste displayed finesse by executing an impressive angled volley to save a set point, followed by a perfectly timed drop shot to claim the set.
However, the second set proved challenging for Baptiste as she only managed to win nine points, leaving her visibly frustrated. “I just had to grind, and keep digging, and digging,” Baptiste reflected post-match. “Obviously, the second set was not great for me, but I’m really happy I was able to turn it around. I left the court to reset; I didn’t really tell myself much… I never really leave the court, so doing that was enough to reset.”
Transitioning into the final set, Baptiste regained her form, showcasing a robust and aggressive game. At a critical juncture when the score was 4-3, she unleashed a powerful inside-in forehand for the only break of the set.
