Jack Draper continues to post impressive results at the Mexican Open in Acapulco and this timer eased himself into the quarter finals with a comfortable straight set win over Japan’s Yoshito Nishioka.
The Briton proved too powerful for the Japanese player appearing in the ATP 500 level draw on a Lucky Loser card ticket who was wept aside 6-3 6-0 after 68-minutes on court.
For the 22-year-old it was his second consecutive match that he has inflicted a bagel set on his opponent.
The British number three started strongly, breaking the world number 82 in his opening game and threatened to overrun him as he as he strode into a 3-0 lead.
Games went on serve as Nishioka fought to stay in touch at 5-3, but Draper served out to win the opening set in 42 minutes.
The Briton was barely troubled after that, again breaking Nishioka at the start of the second set..
He broke twice more and stayed firm on his own serve to book a place in the last eight.
Draper will face Miomir Kecmanovic, ranked three places below him at 53, after the Serbian beat Germany’s Daniel Altmaier 6-4 6-4.
Casper Ruud is set to return into the top ten

In other action Casper Ruud made it into the last eight and as a result, will see his ranking improve with a welcome return into the top 10 when the new rankings are released on Monday.
Seeded six, Ruud has been in good form recently having reversed his slide down then rankings following a series of poor results last year.
He has certainly regained his confidence having made the final of last week’s Los Cabos event and now the quarter following his 6-4 7-5 win over Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic.
Next up for the Norwegian star, is the 21-year-old Ben Shelton, the American who survived a tough opening match against Britain’s Dan Evans and an equally hard encounter with Matteo Arnaldi, finally defeating the Italian 7-6(1) 3-6 6-3 for his quarter final place.
The second seeded Holger Rune cleared his second-round opponent, America’s Aleksander Kovacevic 7-6(3) and will face Germany’s Dominik Koepfer who upset the rankings by defeating the 8th seed, Frances Tiafoe of the US 6-4 5-7 6-1.
Also through to meet each other in what could well prove to be the match of the round, are Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alex de Minaur: Tstistpas the fifth seed took out the Italian qualifier Flavio Cobolli 6-3 7-6(5) while De Minaur had little trouble in overcoming Austria’s Sebastain Ofner 6-1 6-3.
