Accrington Stanley end season on high with dominant victory as Radek Vitek shines – Man United transfer update

Radek Vitek enjoys quiet afternoon as Accrington Stanley sign off season in style with emphatic win - Man United News And Transfer News

Radek Vitek enjoyed a quiet afternoon as Accrington Stanley signed off in style with an impressive 4-1 win at home to Tranmere.

The result means that The ‘Owd Reds finish the League Two season in 17th place.

The home side dominated the match with 20 shots to 10 and were just shaded in terms of possession with 49%.

The afternoon got off to the worst possible start when Tranmere striker, Luke Norris, opened the scoring past Manchester United loanee Vitek after only two minutes.

However, the side from the Wham Stadium responded wonderfully by equalising just two minutes later.

Three second half goals consolidated the win for Vitek’s side and put an end to three consecutive league defeats.

The Czech shot-stopper enjoyed a relatively quiet afternoon after conceding early on in the match. He was awarded a score of 6.7 on Sofascore, as he did not have much opportunity to impress.

He was only required to make one save in the entire game as a poor Tranmere only managed two efforts on target in the 90 minutes.

The giant keeper was also strong in the air when he needed to be as he punched away the ball once and made two high claims.

As his side controlled the game, the keeper was better on the ball than he has been of late.

Vitek had 40 touches and made 21 out of his 30 passes for a 70% pass accuracy.

The youngster was only able to connect with five of his 14 long ball attempts, however.

The tranquility of the youngster’s afternoon was characterised by the fact he only had to make one clearance all match.

The emphatic win brought the curtain down on Accrington’s campaign, who will be pleased with Vitek’s contribution since he joined in the winter market.

The Czech keeper will no doubt head back to Manchester for a well-deserved rest and then join up with United’s pre-season squad where he will be assessed but surely sent out on loan once more, as it is unlikely he will have much game time at Old Trafford next season.

In a rare instance of a United youngster gaining regular gametime in a somewhat stable team, sending him back to Accrington next season may not be the worst idea in the world.
