Carlos Alcaraz played another solid match at the 2024 Madrid Open, and we’re now going to get a rematch from last year’s final.
There were many questions surrounding Alcaraz’s Madrid Open performance this year. He missed two events because of an arm issue, but he opted to play, and so far, it’s been going really well.
He looked very comfortable in the first match in Madrid, and this one wasn’t anything different, even if he played a tricky player with big weapons. Thiago Seyboth Wild, who has a monster forehand, couldn’t do the same thing against the Spaniard.
The 20-year-old used his familiarity with Madrid courts and superb movement to really put the Brazilian under pressure, and he couldn’t handle it. Alcaraz proved to be too strong to overcome.
The first set was relatively competitive, although Alcaraz had break points in the first game. Seyboth Wild led 3-2 after 5 games, but Alcaraz won four games in a row after that.
The Brazilian made too many errors to beat Alcaraz. Alcaraz continued his dominance in the second set, winning quickly and eventually taking the match 6-3, 6-3.
Up next for Alcaraz is Jan-Lennard Struff, whom he beat in the final last year.
