Alcaraz and Nadal’s Madrid Matches Top TV Ratings in Spain

Alcaraz And Nadal Matches In Madrid Lead Viewership Numbers In Spain

The 2024 Madrid Open has ended, and viewership numbers from Spain have since been reported.

The men’s tournament was won by Andrey Rublev, who recovered from a set down to beat first-time Masters 1000 finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. Despite being under the weather heading to the final, Rublev credited his doctors for prepping him for the match.

Rublev collected his second Masters title and moved to sixth in the latest rankings. The women’s championship was a dramatic showdown between Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka.

Swiatek saved three match points in an epic Madrid final against Sabalenka. The match lasted over three hours, and Swiatek was too tired to compose herself during her victory speech.

Spanish journalist Jose Moron shared the television viewership numbers for the Madrid Open in Spain. Matches involving Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz attracted peak audiences.

The most-watched matches in the tournament included games featuring Nadal or Alcaraz. For example, Alcaraz’s quarterfinal defeat to Rublev was watched by nearly 1.4 million viewers on La 1 channel.

Nadal’s matches also drew high viewership, with his fourth-round match attracting an estimated 1.3 million viewers. In contrast, the ATP final was watched by 552,000 and the WTA final by 203,000.

Overall, matches featuring Nadal or Alcaraz dominated the top viewership rankings in the tournament, with only the men’s final breaking that trend.
