Alcaraz Entering Miami Open Challenge With ‘A Lot Of Confidence’ After Indian Wells Win

Alcaraz Entering Miami Open Challenge With ‘A Lot Of Confidence’ After Indian Wells Win

Carlos Alcaraz is feeling confident ahead of the 2024 Miami Open as he enters the tournament on a winning streak.

The young Spanish player wasn’t shy about admitting ahead of his Indian Wells Open campaign that he lacked confidence. However, over the fortnight in California, a lot changed, as he left the tournament with a trophy in his bag.

Alcaraz defended his Indian Wells Open title, and now, he will attempt to become only the eighth player to complete the Sunshine Double, and the first one since Roger Federer did it in 2017.

After the victory at the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season, it’s not surprising that he enters the second such tournament of the year with much more confidence than he had only two weeks ago.

Like all seeded players, he has a first-round bye, and in the second round, the draw gave him the winner of the match between Aleksandar Vukic and Roberto Carballes Baena.

Speaking to the media ahead of the tournament, the 20-year-old admitted that he believes his tennis much more, especially coming to Miami, where he managed to win the title in 2022.

“I’m feeling great, with a lot of confidence right now. I think I’m playing great tennis. I’m really happy to be here in Miami again, a really special place for me, where I’ve shown great tennis the past years. I’m feeling great physically and mentally and I’m ready for this tournament.”

For Alcaraz, the tournament win in Indian Wells certainly changed the course of his 2024 season, as he was without a single title or even a final for a very long period and ending that was crucial for him.

Now, he can get on the completely opposite spectrum of the confidence, should he complete yet another unbeaten run and win also in Miami.
