Alcaraz Sets High Expectations for Paris Olympics, Focused on Performance Rather Than Results

Carlos Alcaraz will be the top favorite in Paris at the 2024 Olympics, but he has no expectations regarding results.

By winning the 2024 Roland Garros, the 21-year-old Spanish player will be the top favorite at the upcoming Paris Olympics. The event is played on clay, which is a huge boost for him, but also on the same courts where he triumphed just a few weeks ago.

The Olympic tournament being played in a best-of-three format will allow him to push harder from the start, and that’s also why he will be probably the most feared player in the draw.

He also has high expectations, but not so much with the results. He doesn’t expect to win the event. Instead, he wants to enjoy the experience of being an Olympic athlete with the rest of the Spanish athletes.

“I have huge expectations for the Olympics, not for the results side but to enjoy the experience of being in the village with all the Spanish athletes. It is gonna be a really beautiful moment for me. I will try to enjoy as much as I can.”

That being said, Alcaraz will go to the event thinking he can win it and try to win it. The goal is relatively simple: he wants to win a medal and bring it back home to Spain, with the Gold medal being the desired one.

Playing doubles with Rafael Nadal will also be a great experience for him, and speaking with the Tennis Channel after his 2024 Wimbledon Championships triumph, he also showed that he was really confident, heading back to the French capital.

“Obviously, coming to the tournament, I’m going for the title. I’m going thinking I can win it. That’s my goal: to bring a medal to my country. Hopefully, I will win a Gold Medal, and obviously, the doubles with Rafa will be a dream moment for me.”
