Carlos Alcaraz achieved an amazing feat by booking the 2024 Roland Garros final, and he reacted to it after the match.
Alcaraz won his first Grand Slam trophy at the US Open two years ago. He was just a teenager but had already proved himself to be an amazing player by doing that. He became the youngest world number one ever after that event.
The Spaniard then won Wimbledon last year and added a Grand Slam final on grass. That was an amazing achievement, as he snapped Novak Djokovic’s 10-year unbeaten streak on the Centre Court in London.
The only surface he was missing a major final on was clay, and by beating Jannik Sinner in the semi-final of the 2024 French Open, the Spaniard secured a Grand Slam final on all surfaces.
By doing that, Alcaraz became the youngest man ever to reach a final on all three major surfaces, which is an amazing achievement considering the list of players he overcame. He reacted to this after the match, expressing satisfaction over achieving such a rare feat.
“Yeah, I knew that (smiling). I mean, I check the phone after the win. Yeah, it’s something great. Breaking new records for me is great, great success for me.”
“Honestly, before the final it’s something that I really don’t want to think about it, but obviously that means that, as I said, I’m playing good tennis in every surface, that is something that I really wanted to do when I started in the tour. So it’s a great feeling, but right now, I don’t want to think about it.”
Alcaraz can obviously add to the achievement by winning the final, and he’s favored to do so, but it won’t be that easy. He’s had some problems with Alexander Zverev in the past, and their only match in Paris on this very court was also won by the German player.
