Carlos Alcaraz is very close to his family, and he spoke about them and life in Murcia, noting that his parents are still in charge of what happens under their roof.
Alcaraz, although no longer a minor, chooses to live with his family in Murcia. He loves being around his family, especially since he spends a lot of time away from home.
While his father and older brother often travel with him, his mother and two younger siblings remain at home. Being separated from them for extended periods makes him miss them dearly.
With his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero’s academy nearby, coming back home is convenient for Alcaraz. After tournaments, the Spaniard travels back to Murcia to spend quality time with his family.
Alcaraz leads a relatively simple life off the tennis courts, and his parents’ rules at home still apply, as shared in a recent interview with ABC.
“Once I set foot in my house, I am under my parents’ rules. So it doesn’t matter if I’ve won two Grand Slams or fifteen. They are the ones who rule and I think that’s the beauty of it. Once I get home I forget about the tennis part and I’m the same person as always.”
Alcaraz has remained grounded despite his tennis success, attributing it to living the same life outside the courts as he did before fame, thanks to his family.
Returning home to simplicity and normalcy is what Alcaraz cherishes most, especially after the hectic and stressful Tour life.
“Being at home, calm, with my people. Without doing much, because at home I enjoy not doing big things, but doing the simplest and most natural things. That’s what characterizes me and what I enjoy the most. That’s what I miss the most.”
Despite his frequent travels due to his profession, Alcaraz rushes back home whenever possible to enjoy the life he loves with his family.
His goal is to remain a regular guy amidst the tennis fame, and so far, he seems to be managing the balance well, hopeful for the future.
“When I finish a tournament, it doesn’t matter if I win or not, I just want to get home to be with my family. I live with my mum and dad, my older brother and two younger brothers. To them I am not a big tennis star, just a normal guy.”
