That’s why he could advance to 15 ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinals before turning 21. Alcaraz is now the second player behind Nadal with the most, as his Miami Open quarter-final run this year is the 12th he has ever had.
It came as he bested Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets last night, and it’s quite notable. Behind him is Novak Djokovic, who has the most Grand Slam titles won by any player.
The Serbian had 11 ATP 1000 quarter-finals before turning 21, and that shows the kind of trajectory Alcaraz is on. He’ll have a chance to make it 13 at the Monte-Carlo Masters but won’t be able to match Nadal as he’s turning 21 in May.
Still, it shows how great a player Alcaraz has been so far and what kind of career trajectory he might be on. He’s on pace to become one of the greats if he already isn’t on that level.
