BNP Paribas Open—Indian Wells, California

Sunday’s action at the BNP Paribas Open featured defending champion Carlos Alcaraz winning his 13th career title, defeating No. 4 seed Daniil Medvedev 7-6(5), 6-1.

In a match that lasted one and 4 minutes, Alcaraz struck 23 winners, won 75 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on three occasions.

Improving to 4-2 against Medvedev in lifetime meetings, Alcaraz will remain No. 2 in the world when the latest rankings are released. The 20-year-old won his first title since Wimbledon last summer.

Earlier in the day, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek breezed to our second title in Indian Wells, dispatching No. 9 seed Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-0.

Swiatek needed one hour and nine minutes to collect her 19th career title. The 22-year-old will now head to the Miami Open in Florida for a chance at winning the Sunshine double.

The Polish star had a meet-and-greet with Hollywood star Zendaya after her victory.
