Carlos Alcaraz is not ready to quench his tattoo addiction yet, so he has immortalized another tennis achievement onto his skin.
Last month, Alcaraz promised to ink his body and add to his array of tattoos to celebrate his Roland Garros triumph. It was a busy period for him, as he had to travel to the United Kingdom for the start of the grass-court swing.
Before that, he had been vacationing in Ibiza, so there was no time to visit a tattoo parlor. That was until after completing a hugely successful campaign on the grass in which he defended the Wimbledon title with a straight-sets victory over Novak Djokovic in the final.
Alcaraz visited prominent tattoo artist Joaquin Ganga, who is based in Los Angeles and has tattooed famous sporting stars like LeBron James, Nick Kyrgios, and American rapper Post Malone.
In a video shared by Ganga, Alcaraz got his new tattoo of the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris, the city where he defeated Alexander Zverev from two sets to one down to win his first Roland Garros last month.
And just below it is the date of his success. In an Instagram post, the Spanish tattoo artist referred to fellow countryman Alcaraz as an “inspiration” and teased him about getting a new one soon.
“Thanks brother @carlitosalcarazz for coming to the house to tattoo your first@rolandgarros. You are an inspiration to everyone! Next one coming soon..”
How Many Tattoos Does Alcaraz Have?
This is not Carlos Alcaraz’s first tattoo, but we can be certain he will tone down the frequency with which he adds ink to his body after the promise he made to his parents.
He states that he only wants to get a tattoo of each of his first Grand Slam titles. Alcaraz has three more tattoos, each with an important meaning. Not all of them are related to his tennis achievements.
One is the date “11.09.22” of his first Grand Slam title, which he won at the 2022 US Open. He was only 19 and would become the youngest World No. 1 in ATP history just 24 hours later.
He also has the triple Cs inked on his wrist, meaning ”cabeza”, ”corazon” and ”cojones” in Spanish, and translated to head, heart, and balls in English.
It was the first tattoo he got in memory of his grandfather, and it serves as a dose of energy and bravery when things get tight in a match. His third tattoo is that of a strawberry, which is the most popular snack for tennis fans and some players at Wimbledon.
Alcaraz’s stance is that he wants to get each one of his first majors inked, and although he’s one of the fastest players to get to four slams at only 21, he hasn’t won the Australian Open yet.
Moreover, Alcaraz said that he would get a new tattoo if he won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, either in singles or doubles.
