He didn’t fail with his tennis, even though he didn’t play the best match but more so couldn’t really handle the moment. The brutal conditions and nerves caused him to cramp badly and that was basically the end of it.
After the match, even Djokovic recognized that Alcaraz succumbed to the pressure of being the favorite, which was a big lesson for him. It was a winnable match as the score was 1-1 in sets when the cramps started. Redemption will be possible in 2024 and two-fold because we’ll see him in Paris twice.

To me, winning a Grand Slam would make it a very good season. I think that this year, for example, Roland Garros is going to be a very big goal for him. After what happened last year, I think he will manage it differently. He will have less anxiety and he’ll be wanting to get to Paris to win, because he knows that it is a very long Grand Slam.
Alcaraz will certainly aim to win as many events as possible, but winning at least one Grand Slam is a must for him. Roland Garros seems like the natural pick due to his clay prowess.
