Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho had a standout season at Old Trafford last year despite the team’s challenges.
The 20-year-old has recently made his debut for the Argentina national team and is currently participating in the Copa America under Lionel Scaloni.
Although there were talks of him potentially joining the Olympics later in the summer, reports now suggest that he will return to Manchester United after the Copa America.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Garnacho will not be part of the Paris Olympics as the Argentinian FA did not request his participation, aligning with FIFA regulations that prevent players from competing in two tournaments in one summer.
Previous reports hinted that United might block Garnacho from the Olympics, but the situation resolved itself as no call-up request was received.
Garnacho can now enjoy a well-deserved break following his Copa America campaign and a busy season with Manchester United.
He, alongside Diogo Dalot, was one of the few players to steer clear of injuries for Erik ten Hag’s side, featuring in 50 of the 52 games throughout the season.
The academy graduate impressively started 39 consecutive games, showcasing his versatility on either flank under Ten Hag’s management.
Argentina, with Garnacho in their ranks, are favored to win the Copa America, and despite not having his best performance, he played over an hour in the 2-0 victory against Peru, helping Argentina top the group.
Garnacho will miss United’s pre-season tour in the US due to his commitments with Argentina but could return for the Community Shield clash against Manchester City on August 10.
