Alejo Veliz Moves from Tottenham to Bahia in €9 Million Deal
Bahia, based in Brazil, has successfully negotiated a permanent transfer for Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz, as reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer, which is valued at €9 million (£7.8 million) plus performance-related incentives, signifies a notable change for the Argentine player, who joined Spurs with great fanfare three years ago.
Today, the arrangement was verbally confirmed by Cadu Santoro, the director of Bahia.
Currently on loan back in Argentina, Veliz intends to conclude his time with Rosario Central before making the transition to Brazil.
As a result, his medical examination and official contract signing are slated for June 2026.
Romano shared the news on social media, stating: “Bahia have agreed to sign Alejo Veliz from Tottenham on a permanent basis, here we go! The fee is €9 million plus add-ons. Veliz wished to remain in Rosario until his loan ends and then join Bahia. The medical will take place in June, with the deal verbally agreed today with director Cadu Santoro.”

Alejo Veliz’s Struggles at Tottenham
Veliz joined Tottenham for £13 million in August 2023, being praised as one of South America’s most exciting young talents.
At 6’2″ and known for his physical presence and aerial skills, he was anticipated to enhance the attacking options at Tottenham.
Unfortunately, his tenure in England was impacted by limited playing time and unfortunate circumstances.
He made only eight appearances as a substitute for the first team, with his only goal occurring in a 4-2 loss against Brighton.
Subsequent loan spells at Sevilla and Espanyol also failed to revitalise his career in Europe, as he found it challenging to get regular playing time in La Liga.
Currently, he is back in Argentina, playing for Rosario Central on loan from Tottenham, and it looks like his spell in North London is drawing to a close.
