Alexis Galarneau will join Team Canada at the Davis Cup Group Stage from September 10-15, replacing the injured Milos Raonic. Galarneau will link up with captain Frank Dancevic, and teammates Félix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, Gabriel Diallo, and Vasek Pospisil in Manchester, UK.
“It is unfortunate that Milos will be unable to join us in Manchester for the Davis Cup Group Stage. We wish him the best in his recovery,” said Dancevic. “We are blessed with great strength in depth, and so are delighted to welcome a player of Alexis’ quality to the team. As he has shown in the past, Alexis can be relied upon to produce a very high level, and he will be an extremely valuable addition to our roster.”
“Playing for Canada has always brought out the best in me so I’m thrilled to be invited to join the team in Manchester,” Galarneau said. “I want to wish Milos a speedy recovery, but I’ll do my best to make Canada proud and can’t wait to play in front of a great crowd in Manchester.”
Ranked No. 220 on the ATP Tour, Galarneau was part of the Canadian team that made history in 2022 by winning the country’s first-ever Davis Cup title. He made his debut in the competition earlier that year against the Netherlands in the Qualifier tie and was a key part of the team at the 2023 Group Stage, winning two singles and three doubles rubbers as Canada secured its place in the Final 8.
Galarneau’s addition to the team is following the withdrawal of Raonic, who misses out due to a broken toe.
“It hurts me a lot to have to pull out from the Davis Cup Group Stage in Manchester,” said Raonic. “I got hurt and broke my toe recently. The Canadian team is looking incredibly strong and with Gabriel [Diallo]’s great play lately it is even deeper than ever before. As I recover, I will be cheering and supporting the guys as they push through the Group Stage. I hope I can join the team later this year as they look to win the Davis Cup for the second time!”

Team Canada will compete in Group D in Manchester against Argentina (September 10), Finland (September 12) and host nation Great Britain (September 15). Broadcast details will be confirmed shortly.
