Ally McCoist Identifies Two Arsenal Players as Culprits in Bayern Munich’s Opening Goal

Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta Champions League

Rangers legend Ally McCoist has slammed Arsenal for their defensive lapse during Bayern Munich’s winning goal in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg. McCoist believes that Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Martinelli should have reacted better to prevent the goal.

Needing to break the deadlock after a 2-2 draw in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal traveled to Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena on Wednesday night. Both teams were cautious, resulting in a tactical battle with few chances.

In the second half, Bayern Munich took the lead through Joshua Kimmich’s powerful header. Leroy Sane provided the assist, setting up Raphael Guerreiro for a cross that Kimmich headed home.

McCoist, analyzing the game post-match, criticized Arsenal’s defending for Bayern’s goal. He specifically called out Tomiyasu and Martinelli for not stopping the play effectively.

Arsenal now shift their focus to the English Premier League after being knocked out of all cup competitions. The Gunners, currently second in the league and trailing leaders Manchester City by two points, will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next fixture.
