Amad Diallo joins growing list of injured Man United players opting out of national team duty – Latest updates on Man United’s squad and transfer news

Amad Diallo set to be offered new long-term contract in the coming months - Man United News And Transfer News

Amad Diallo has become the latest Manchester United player forced to withdraw from their respective national teams due to injury.

Alejandro Garnacho was the first to be ruled out of international action, as he was dropped by Argentina because of a knee issue.

The Argentine played for 45 minutes during the 3-3 Europa League draw against FC Porto and then followed that up by featuring for the full 90 minutes of last weekend’s stalemate at Villa Park.

On Monday, Morocco confirmed that Noussair Mazraoui will not be linking up with his countrymen for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Central African Republican

On the same day, England announced that Kobbie Mainoo was among three players, alongside Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who had withdrawn from the team as a result of fitness concerns.

Ivory Coast have now relayed that Amad has left the squad due to “health” reasons and has returned to United for further assessment.

A statement by The Elephants read, “The Ivorian Football Federation informs the Press and the public that the player Amad DIALLO, arrived in group on Monday October 7, 2024, as part of the 3rd and 4th Days of the CAN qualifiers Morocco 2025, is declared forfeit for health reasons.”

“To do this, the Manchester United striker returns to his club for medical monitoring this Wednesday October 9, 2024.”

Amad began the 2024/25 season as a regular in the first team, featuring in the starting lineup for four of United’s seven Premier League matches.

He also started both Europa League fixtures against FC Twente and Porto.

The 22-year-old has yet to fully nail down a starting berth, with Erik ten Hag so far rotating his wide options of Amad, Garnacho and Marcus Rashford.

United return to action on October 19, when they host Thomas Frank’s Brentford at Old Trafford.
