Amad Diallo shines as substitute for Ivory Coast in Man United Transfer news

Amad Diallo marks return to national team with a fine performance as Ivory Coast beat Zambia - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo came off the bench to help his side defeat Chad 2-0 in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying rounds.

The AFCON champions are now in control of Group G as they sit top with six points from six, three ahead of Zambia in second place.

The Elephants dominated the away fixture with 76% of the ball and had 21 shots to their opponents’ seven.

Goals from Jean-Phillipe Krasso and Oumar Diakite put the Ivory Coast in charge before the introduction of Diallo.

The 22 year old impressed on his return to the national team in his last match against Zambia, playing 70 minutes, but he had to make do with a place on the bench at the start of this game.

He played 29 minutes of action in the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium and was given a score of 6.8 from Sofascore for his performance.

The winger has added more goals to his game lately as he scored two in pre-season and also United’s equaliser against Brighton and Hove Albion last month.

He has also distinguished himself so far this season by winning United’s Player of the Month award for August.

Nonetheless, he didn’t have any opportunities on goal in this game but did touch the ball 22 times. He also showed his skill and tight control as he completed two out of his three dribble attempts.

Diallo was also disciplined on the ball as he completed 15 out of his 16 passes for an accuracy of 94%.

One of those passes was also classified as a key pass but his teammate could not find the back of the net in the subsequent sequence of play.

The Ivorian also competed in four ground duels, coming out on top in half of them.

Amad will hope to add to his six caps in October when the Ivory Coast take on Sierra Leone, aiming to all but secure their path to the AFCON.

After starting from the bench against Liverpool, the young winger will hope he can return to the starting line up shortly and build on his positive start to the campaign.
