American Players to Compete in 2024 Davis Cup Group Stage in Zhuhai, China: Korda, Giron, Nakashima, Krajicek, and Ram



USA to Take on Germany, Slovakia and Chile in Group C September 10-15 with the Top Two Teams Advancing to November’s Final 8

USTA- ORLANDO, Fla., July 15, 2024 – The USTA and U.S. Davis Cup Captain Bob Bryan today announced that Sebastian Korda, Marcos Giron, Brandon Nakashima, Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram will represent the U.S. in its 2024 Davis Cup Finals Group Stage ties vs. Germany, Slovakia and Chile September 10-15 in Zhuhai, China.

The Group Stage consists of four groups of four nations each competing to advance to the eight-nation knockout stage that will crown this year’s Davis Cup champion November 19-24 in Malaga, Spain. The U.S. is competing in Group C in Zhuhai, on an indoor hard court inside the Hengqin International Tennis Center. Each Group features a round-robin competition where the top two finishers advance to Malaga. Each matchup is a best-of-three tie featuring two singles and one doubles match. The dates and times of the U.S. matches are below:

Korda, 24, is ranked No. 22 in singles and has played in two Davis Cup ties since debuting in 2022. He won in singles in February’s Qualifying with Ukraine to help the U.S. advance to the Group Stage, and also won in singles to help the U.S. advance out of Qualifying in 2022.

Giron, 30, is ranked No. 46 in singles. This is his debut Davis Cup nomination. A former NCAA singles champion at UCLA and two-time singles finalist on the ATP Tour, Giron will be competing in his second consecutive Olympics for Team USA later this month in Paris.

Nakashima, 22, is ranked No. 53 in singles, and this is also his debut Davis Cup nomination. The ATP’s Newcomer of the Year in 2021, Nakashima won his maiden ATP singles title and the ATP Next Gen Finals in 2022, the year he reached his career-high ranking of No. 43.

Ram, 40, is ranked No. 6 in doubles and has gone 8-2 in Davis Cup doubles since debuting in 2021. A former world doubles No. 1, four-time Grand Slam men’s doubles champion and two-time ATP Finals doubles champion, Ram will be competing in his third consecutive Olympics for Team USA later this month in Paris after earning bronze in mixed doubles in 2016.

Krajicek, 34, is ranked No. 24 in doubles and would be competing in his sixth Davis Cup tie. A former doubles world No. 1 and 2023 French Open champion, Krajicek is 4-1 in Davis Cup doubles – all with teammate Rajeev Ram – and will be competing in his second consecutive Olympics for Team USA later this month in Paris.

Davis Cup is the World Cup of Men’s Tennis and is the largest international team competition in world sport, with nearly 150 nations competing each year. The United States is its all-time winningest nation, with 32 Davis Cup titles.
