Eighteen-year-old Iva Jovic, an emerging talent from the United States, is set to compete in the 2026 Credit One Charleston Open, marking her first appearance in this prestigious event. This tournament, regarded as the largest professional women’s tennis gathering in North America, will take place from March 28 to April 5, 2026, at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina.

Jovic has made significant strides in her career, currently seated at No. 20 in the WTA rankings. Over the past eight months, her ranking has surged, beginning with her breakthrough victory at the WTA tournament in Guadalajara in September 2025, followed by an impressive run to her first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the 2026 Australian Open. This ascent has catapulted her into the Top 20 for the first time.

The Charleston Open will feature a competitive lineup, including fellow Top 20 players Jessica Pegula, Amanda Anisimova, Belinda Bencic, Madison Keys, and Emma Navarro. Jovic expressed her excitement about participating, stating, “I’m thrilled to be playing Charleston for the first time. It’s a tournament with a rich history, and I’m looking forward to bringing my best game next month.”

Her rise in the sport is noteworthy. Jovic clinched her initial WTA title in just her tenth tour-level main draw appearance, becoming the youngest player to achieve a WTA title since Coco Gauff’s win in Parma in 2021. This season, she has already showcased her abilities by reaching the semifinals in Auckland, the finals in Hobart, and the quarterfinals in Melbourne.

Bob Moran, President of Beemok Sports & Entertainment, welcomed Jovic, highlighting her potential and commitment to the sport. “Iva represents the future of American tennis. Her rapid rise over the past year is a testament to her dedication and competitive nature. We look forward to seeing her play on the green clay and introducing her to our fans,” he remarked.

In 2024, Jovic made her debut at the US Open, where she made headlines by winning her first match and becoming the youngest American woman to secure a main draw victory since 2000. Earlier in the same year, she celebrated victories in girls’ doubles at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

The Credit One Charleston Open, renowned for its commitment to women’s tennis, was named the WTA 500 Tournament of the Year for four consecutive years from 2022 to 2025. With a substantial prize fund of $2.5 million announced for 2026, the tournament continues to set the standard in women’s sports. Notably, it became the first independent WTA 500 event to voluntarily raise its prize money, highlighting its significance in the realm of women’s sports and its investment in future talent.

This nine-day event features a singles draw of 48 players, a qualifying draw of 24, and a doubles draw of 16, attracting over 90,000 spectators annually at Daniel Island.

Charleston Tennis, LLC, which manages Credit One Stadium, recently completed renovations to upgrade the venue, enhancing the experience for athletes and fans alike. Since its inception in 1973, the Credit One Charleston Open has played a pivotal role in promoting women’s professional sports, being the first women’s tennis event to offer $100,000 in prize money and the first to air live on network television. With its long-standing legacy and continued evolution, the tournament remains a cornerstone of women’s tennis.
