Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: Turner, Wright, and more

Matt Turner and Nottingham Forest have continued to slide down the English Premier League table and a defeat to Newcastle United on Boxing Day could lead to them heading into the relegation zone.

Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Bournemouth extended Forest’s winless run to seven matches in league play. Turner made three saves in the match, but also conceded a hat trick to Cherries striker Dominic Solanke as the 10-men hosts fell on home soil. Turner only recently came back into the starting lineup, as Nuno Espírito Santo replaced Steve Cooper as manager.

However, the U.S. men’s national team shot-stopper has felt his share of criticism in recent weeks, and will need to do his part if Nottingham Forest wants to avoid a relegation scrap in 2024.

Elsewhere in England, Antonee Robinson and Fulham visit Bournemouth. Haji Wright and Coventry City face Sheffield Wednesday.

In Scotland, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic face Dundee FC. Dante Polvara and Aberdeen take on Motherwell.
