Americans Abroad Midweek Rewind: Musah, Zendejas, and more

AC Milan took one step towards booking its place into the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 with Yunus Musah excelling in a shutout win over Rennes.

Musah logged 90 minutes in midfield as the Rossoneri rolled to a 3-0 first leg victory over the Ligue 1 visitors. It marked Musah’s first start since January 10 when he featured against Atalanta in Coppa Italia play.

The 21-year-old completed 95% of his passes, won four of six duels, and made one tackle alongside Tijjani Reijnders. The result also gave AC Milan its second-straight clean sheet in all competitions heading into Sunday’s Serie A trip to Monza.

Fellow U.S. men’s national team teammate Christian Pulisic started and played 81 minutes in the match.

In England, Haji Wright and Coventry City fought back for one point against Plymouth Argyle. Ethan Horvath‘s Cardiff City debut ended in losing fashion.

Elsewhere, Alex Zendejas scored once in Club America’s CONCACAF Champions Cup triumph over Real Esteli. Cade Cowell and Chivas also advanced in the CONCACAF competition. Dante Polvara was replaced before halftime in Aberdeen’s league draw with Motherwell.
