2024 Olympic Men’s Tournament, Matchday 1: Match thread and discussion


Welcome to the 2024 Olympics! Today, the Men’s Tournament begins with 16 teams aiming to be the team atop the podium in two weeks’ time. It promises to be filled with a lot of action as we find out who gets the gold medal.

Each men’s matchday will be one for the committed fan, with eight matches appearing during the day during the group stage. That allows for fans to have plenty of soccer action on matchday 1 as they see each of the teams in action.

We will see Uzbekistan take on Spain, Argentina take on Morocco, Egypt against the Dominican Republic, and Guinea facing New Zealand. Japan will battle Paraguay, Iraq will compete against Ukraine, and Mali will face Israel as the other matches on the day outside of the USMNT U-23s.
