Shahrdari Gorgan (Superleague) agreed terms with 27-year old American power forward Diamond Stone (208cm-115kg-1997, college: Maryland). Stone moved there from Sigal Prishtina in Kosovan Superliga where he played the last season. He managed to play in three leagues this year. The team played in three different competitions that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. In 11 Superliga games he had very impressive stats: 20.5ppg, 8.1rpg, 1.2apg and 1.1bpg. Stone helped them to make it to the cup final. He also played 6 games in Balkan League where he was league’s second best scorer with remarkable 20.7ppg and averaged 8.7rpg (#4 in the league) and 1.3apg. Stone contributed to his team winning the Balkan League championship. 2023-24 was a great season as he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Balkan League Center of the Year and League Player of the Week. And finally he recorded 2 games in Liga Unike where he was league’s second best scorer with high stats: 23.0ppg and got 6.5rpg (#4 in the league), 2.5apg and 2.0bpg.
In 2016 he was drafted by New Orleans Pelicans (NBA) in second round (40th overall). He attended University of Maryland and it is his eighth season in pro basketball.
Stone is quite experienced player. He has played in ten different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Stone has played previously professionally in China (Hefei), Kuwait (Kazma), Philippines (Meralco Bolts and SM Beermen), Puerto Rico (Mets and Gigantes), Taiwan (Suns and TB Herobears), Venezuela (Cocodrilos), NBA (Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz and LA Clippers), NBA G League (SLC Stars, Santa Cruz Warriors, RGV Vipers, Iowa Wolves and Windy City Bulls), Dominican Republic (Marineros) and Mongolia (Brothers). he was selected Asia-Basket.com All-Mongolian League Player of the Year in 2024.
