Panionios Athens (Elite League) added to their roster 28-year old American guard Kendall Smith (190cm-86kg-1995, college: OK State) for new 2024-25 season. Smith is the second import player in the roster as Russian Thanasis Tsoukas signed here earlier.
He played last season at N.Novgorod in Russian VTB United League. He managed to play in four leagues in three countries last year (!!!). In 10 VTB United League games he had 11.7ppg, 3.1rpg and 2.2apg. He also played for PAOK Mateco Thessaloniki in Greek GBL where in 7 games he recorded 10.9ppg, 2.3rpg, 3.6apg and 1.3spg. Smith also played 4 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged 11.3ppg, 4.5rpg and 2.5apg. The other team he played that season for was Cayirova in Turkish TBL. In 8 games he got impressive 15.1ppg, 3.4rpg, 4.3apg and 2.0spg.
Two years ago (four years after his graduation) he was drafted by Main Celtics (G-League) in first round (29th overall).
The former Oklahoma State University standout is in his seventh season in pro basketball.
He is quite experienced player. Smith has played also professionally in Belgium (Okapi Aalst), Greece (Kolossos H Hotels Rodou), NBA G League (Santa Cruz Warriors, Stockton Kings, Maine Celtics and Westchester Knicks) and NBA Summer League (GS Warriors and GS Warriors). Smith’s team made it to the Russian Cup Finalist in 2024 final.
He was voted to All-Big West Honorable Mention back in 2016. Smith played for other colleges like: California State University Northridge, University of Nevada – Las Vegas.
