Newly promoted Hapoel Gilboa Galil (Winner League) strengthened their roster with the addition of 29-year-old Belgian international power forward Hans Vanwijn (207cm-1995) for the 2024-25 season, as a temporary replacement for the injured Emmanuel Nzekwesi. Vanwijn was tested by Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen in the Belgian Pro Basketball League but was not approved in the end.
He has been a member of the Belgian international program for several years. Vanwijn has regularly played for the Belgian senior team since 2016 and previously for the U20 National Team in 2015.
He represented Belgium at the FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Pre-Qualifiers five years ago, with stats of 2 games: 7.5ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.5apg, 1.5spg, 1.0bpg.
Vanwijn is an experienced player who has also played professionally in France (JDA Dijon, Gravelines Dunkerque, and JSF Nanterre), Italy, Spain (Zaragoza), Belgium (Antwerp Giants, Leuven Bears, Houthalen, and Limburg United), and Israel (Hapoel Holon). His team won the Belgian Cup in 2019 and 2020. Vanwijn was voted to the Belgian All-Star Game in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
