Hapoel Shlomo Tel-Aviv (Winner League) added to their roster 29-year old American (has also Ugandan passport) 196cm forward Ishmail Wainright (college: Baylor) for season 2024-25. Wainright played most recently at Phoenix Suns in the NBA, but released. But in four games he recorded just 0.8ppg and 1.3rpg last season. He also played for the Trail Blazers in NBA where in 7 games he averaged only 2.9ppg and 1.3rpg. The other team he played shortly was Remix in U.S. NBA-G-League. In three games he had 10.3ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.3apg. Wainright also spent pre-season at the Suns in NBA. In four games he got only 0.8ppg and 1.3rpg. He has been regularly called to Ugandan Senior National Team since 2020.
Wainright is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in France (SIG Strasbourg), Germany (Rasta Vechta and Falcons), NBA Summer League (Toronto Raptors) and The Basketball Tournament (Team Wainrightartfire). He played in the final of NBA Western Conference -2022, 23 in 2022 and 2023.
Among many awards he was voted to Afrobasket.com All-FIBA AfroBasket Honorable Mention back in 2021.
Wainright graduated from Baylor University in 2017 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
