Panevezys 7bet-Lietkabelis (LKL) inked 25-year old Greek ex-international 201cm swingman Georgios Kalaitzakis, agency: Octagon Europe for upcoming season. Kalaitzakis is the second import player in the roster as Ukrainian Oleksandr Kovliar signed here earlier.
He played most recently at Tigers Tuebingen in German ProA. In 16 BBL games he averaged 10.5ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.6apg last season.
Three years ago he was drafted by Indiana Pacers (NBA) in second round (60 th overall).
He was also a member of Greek international program for some years. He played for Greek Senior National Team in 2020 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2017.
Kalaitzakis represented Greece at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 in Tel-Aviv (Israel) five years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: Score-1(19.7ppg), 5.7rpg, 4.4apg, 1.4spg, FGP-3(70.0%), 3PT: 25.0%, FT: 79.7%.
He is a very experienced player. Kalaitzakis has played also professionally in NBA (Milwaukee Bucks and OKC Thunder), Greece (Panathinaikos and Aris), Lithuania (Nevezis), NBA G League (OKC Blue and Wisconsin Herd) and NBA Summer League (Milwaukee Bucks). He won Greek League championship title in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
Among many awards he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U18 Honorable Mention back in 2017.
