Onvo Buyukcekmece Basketbol (BSL) landed 28-year old Lithuanian ex-international 208cm center Martynas Sajus for the new season. It is actually his comeback to Buyukcekmece as he has played here before. Sajus played most recently at Rio Breogan in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 27 games he averaged 6.8ppg and 3.5rpg last season. He also played 9 games in Basketball Champions League where he had 6.0ppg, 4.0rpg, and 1.3apg.
Sajus won the Lithuanian League championship title in 2016 and 2018. The previous (2022-23) season he played at Buyukcekmece in the Turkish BSL. In 30 games he recorded 10.5ppg, 5.4rpg, and 2.3apg in that year.
He was also a member of the Lithuanian international program for some years. Sajus played for the Lithuanian Senior National Team between 2017 and 2022 and previously for the U20 National Team in 2016. He represented Lithuania at the World University Games in Taipei (Taiwan) seven years ago. Sajus’ team won the Gold, and his stats at that event were 8 games: 5.0ppg, 3.3rpg.
Sajus is a very experienced player. He has played professionally in Germany (Bayreuth), Italy, Poland (Wilki Morskie and Kociewskie Diably), and Lithuania (Zalgiris, Lietkabelis, Zalgiris Kaunas 2nd team, and Zalgiris).
Among many awards, he received the Eurobasket.com All-Polish League Youth Player of the Year award back in 2017. Sajus won the Lithuanian League championship title in 2016 and 2018.
