If the argument over the greatest quarterback in NFL history is determined solely by Super Bowl rings, then that discussion is settled.
It’s Tom Brady with a bunch of contenders crowded behind him, including a young man with the Kansas City Chiefs who is rapidly gaining on the GOAT.
But if the criteria are based on talent, and considering that football is the ultimate team sport, then the discussion is much more wide open.
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has one Super Bowl ring, but few would argue that he is not among the game’s elite talents at its most important position.
Former NFL star and longtime Rodgers teammate James Jones insisted on FS1’s Speak that his former quarterback deserves to be included in the discussion of all-time NFL greats.

James emphatically declared that Rodgers is far better than peers with more rings, and to dismiss his many accomplishments is to act as though they don’t matter.
Those accolades include being a four-time MVP, Super Bowl champion and MVP, a four-time All-Pro and named to ten Pro Bowls.
Rodgers has already had a career that will put him in the Hall of Fame on the first ballot that he is eligible for, that much is certain.
And Jones is correct in that Rodgers must be considered among the all-time greats based on wins and awards and not written off for having only one ring.
If he’s not, Jones asked why games are played and why it matters how successful a player is if they are not world champions.
