Analyst Identifies Areas of Improvement for Promising Young Quarterback

Analyst Says 1 Young QB Has 'Limitations To His Game'

A lot of people are of the belief that the Houston Texans selected the best quarterback in the NFL Draft last year in C.J. Stroud at No. 2 overall.

The reason is that he turned in arguably the best rookie season of any quarterback in NFL history.

He threw for 23 touchdowns, over 4,000 yards, and had a passer rating of 100.8 en route to taking the Houston Texans to the playoffs.

Now, the Carolina Panthers had the opportunity to draft him at No. 1 overall but instead took Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.

As things stand right now, Young has a lot of work to do if he wants to reach Stroud’s level.

NFL analyst Greg Cosell recently joined the Ross Tucker Podcast to chat about whether or not Young can be a quality NFL starter after a rough rookie year in Carolina.

“I don’t think we know the answer to that…There are limitations to his game…He’s super intelligent and he understands things really well but now you have to help him,” Cosell said.

Still just 22 years of age, Young is a very raw player and is still finding his way.

He threw for less than 3,000 yards and 11 touchdowns, along with 10 interceptions, as a rookie.

Carolina finished 2-15 last season.

The team went out and added a younger, more creative mind in former offensive coordinator Dave Canales to be the head coach.

Carolina also added key pieces such as Pro Bowl wide receiver Diontae Johnson, first-round wide receiver Xavier Legette, and major free agent signee in guard Robert Hunt.

At 5-10, Young is a smaller quarterback that may have to take some more bumps in his second year.

But with a better roster and a more open-minded head coach, he can be a lot better in 2024.
