Whether it’s suspect coaching or injuries that have held down Arizona’s Kyler Murray thus far in his NFL career, he has not been the impact player in his first five seasons that many envisioned.

Murray missed nine games in 2023 and another six in the year before, and he is on his second head coach.

But brighter days may be on the horizon for the star who led the Cards to the playoffs in 2021.

NFL expert Judy Battista listed eight dark-horse candidates for MVP this season, and a surprise appeared with Murray’s selection.

The still-young quarterback is now almost two years removed from the horrific knee injury suffered in 2022, and if he is at full strength, Battista may turn into a prophet.

The talent is clearly there.

Despite playing in abbreviated seasons for the past three years, Murray has already thrown 94 touchdown passes against only 46 interceptions.

He completed 65.7% of his passes last season and is beyond question one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league.

Murray should also benefit from team stability, as head coach Jonathan Gannon returns for his second season and has managed to keep his entire staff together.

If the Cardinals can keep Murray on the field and avoid the carousel of quarterbacks the team endured in 2023, good times may be on the horizon for the team in the desert.

Murray spent much of last year rehabbing and attempting to return to form after the knee injury, and a healthy 2024 could put him in place for league honors when the season ends.
