The Washington Commanders are early in a new era that started last year when the controversial Daniel Snyder sold them to a group headed by billionaire investor Josh Harris and NBA legend Magic Johnson.

In April, they used the No. 2 pick in the draft on Jayden Daniels, a talented and promising quarterback out of Louisiana State University.

Louis Riddick recently said on ESPN that he has 100 percent confidence that Daniels is going to take his new town “by storm.”

Daniels won the Heisman Trophy last year and threw for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns with a 72.2 completion rate while adding 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

While the Commanders went a dismal 4-13 last season, he will be joining a team that won’t have a completely bare cupboard.

They have wide receiver Terry McLaurin, one of the game’s more underrated players who has put up over 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last four seasons.

In addition, Austin Ekeler, one of the NFL’s true dual-threat quarterbacks, joined Washington in free agency this offseason, and he will give Daniels another significant weapon.

The Commanders almost certainly won’t make the playoffs this coming season, but if Daniels lives up to expectations, they could come relatively close to reaching the postseason while giving their fans a glimpse of the success they could have later on.

They also have plenty of salary cap space, which they could use either this offseason or later on to bring in another piece or two to make themselves very competitive sooner rather than later.
