For the past two NFL seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs have found a way to finish at the very top of the league as back-to-back Super Bowl champions.
Now, the Chiefs have had the luxury of superstars like quarterback Patrick Mahomes, defensive lineman Chris Jones, and tight end Travis Kelce leading the way, but they’ve also been able to win these big games without having much talent in their wide receiver room.
Tyreek Hill is the last Kansas City receiver to finish a season with more than 1,000 yards, and he hasn’t been on the team’s roster since the 2021 campaign.
In an attempt to improve this position group before the 2024 season, Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt believes former Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin would be a great choice as the Chiefs’ first-round selection in this year’s NFL Draft (via The Joel Klatt Show: A CFB Pod on Twitter).

Klatt mentions how Kansas City was able to add wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in free agency this offseason, but the Fox Sports analyst believes the team still needs to add more help to the position group.
Franklin is coming off of a tremendous final season at Oregon in which he hauled in 81 passes for 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns, and this was after a sophomore campaign in 2022 where he finished with 61 catches for 891 yards and nine scores.
It’s scary to realize how successful the Chiefs have been in the last two seasons despite the lack of talented wide receivers on their roster.
It’s even scarier to think how much better Kansas City could be in 2024 with the addition of Brown and the potential selection of Franklin in this year’s draft.
