This has to be the year that Daniel Jones takes that major step for the New York Giants.

The former first-round pick has been the definition of mediocre while playing for Big Blue for five seasons.

New York has made the playoffs just once in Jones’s five years with the former Duke Blue Devil turning the ball over a total of 75 times (40 interceptions thrown).

Insider Connor Hughes recently joined The Carton Show to chat about the importance of this year for Jones and why this is a make-or-break season.

“It is a pivotal point here in Daniel Jones’s career…He is somebody that has the flame behind him,” Hughes said.

An interesting point that Hughes also made is that Daniel Jones wasn’t selected by GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll.

If Jones does not play well this year, it would be hard to believe that the team wouldn’t seriously consider moving on from him.

He has had just one season in five years where he threw for over 20 touchdown passes.

That was his rookie year in 2019, and the team went 3-9 with him starting.

He also has never thrown for more than 3,300 yards in a season.

His lack of productivity and ability has really shown over the years.

With the loss of two-time Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley earlier this offseason, there will be even more pressure on Jones to be at his best.

The only way that he may be able to save his job is if he takes New York to the playoffs, which seems very unlikely at this point in time.
