After decades of disappointment and never really coming close to winning a Super Bowl, the Detroit Lions were able to change the narrative about their franchise last season. Everything started to come together with Jared Goff as their starting quarterback and Dan Campbell as their leader on the sideline.

Many people predicted that the Lions would have a breakout season in the 2023 NFL season, considering how the team responded to Campbell last year and how it finished the 2022 campaign.

Although it was unwanted pressure for the Lions, Detroit was able to live up to and arguably surpass expectations last season. Goff and company were able to get to the NFC Championship Game and give the star-studded San Francisco 49ers a run for their money.

Despite blowing a big lead in that game, the Lions’ season was considered a success. The team potentially has a bright future ahead, and one of the players they can thank for their recent success and the possibility of success to come is offensive tackle Penei Sewell.

Even though Sewell is only 23 years old, he’s already made an impact in Detroit. According to Geoff Schwartz of FOX Sports, he is a future Hall of Famer via The Volume.

At this point in time, Sewell is easily one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL today, and Goff should be very thankful he’s got the former Oregon Ducks start to help protect and keep him upright.

As long as Sewell stays healthy and productive on the field, he could very well have a Hall-of-Fame-caliber career and potentially some Super Bowl rings as well.
